Why we 🥰 Ottawa
It’s not too big, not too small, and full of friendly, engaged and welcoming people.
But to keep this city moving in a way we all love, we have to look to the future and make sure we as a city make the right decisions. Ottawa can’t lose the small town feel that makes us such a great city. We need an affordable city, a safe city, a city that doesn’t hold back- a city that brings us together, not tears us apart.
Affordability is key. Overtaxation and overregulation will hold up the development of new housing and make the housing we already have unaffordable for too many Ottawans.
We need to keep the dream of home ownership alive in Ottawa. Not just for the million people who already call Ottawa home, but also the over 400,000 new Ottawans who will be calling our city home in the next two decades. That doesn'’t just mean building affordable housing, it means having a sensible housing policy that makes home ownership affordable throughout Ottawa for everyone.
Just as much as Ottawans need an affordable city, Ottawans deserve a safe city. No Ottawan should be afraid to walk around at night. Weekly shootings on the news shouldn’t be the norm. We can’t risk having neighbours caught in the crosshairs of violent crime. One shooting puts too much at risk for the Ottawa we love. Visitors to our great city deserve to see the best our city has to offer, not worry about being potential victims of crime. To keep the Ottawa we love safe we need a well-funded, well-trained police service that have the resources needed to protect our community against crime.
Of course, public safety isn’t only about crime. It’s about having roads that are safe for commuters, cyclists and pedestrians alike. It’s about making sure that Ottawa parents can drive their kids to school, workers can cycle to jobs and residents can walk to the local grocery store without worrying about reckless drivers that use our roads as a racetrack.
Prioritizing our roads is something that will benefit all Ottawans. Failing to properly invest in roads will not only leave behind our suburban friends but also strand our rural neighbours who rely on our roads rather than public transit.
These aren’t radical solutions that some may think are needed. These are practical, tried-and-true solutions that will make Ottawa a safe and affordable place to live for years to come.
So if you think Ottawa needs pragmatic solutions that help all of our residents instead of radical and divisive ideas that will create more problems than they solve, join us today and we’ll keep you updated on the fight for a safer, nicer, and more affordable Ottawa.
